Outrage as Botswana Bushmen denied access to water
There was outrage today as Botswana's High Court denied the Kalahari Bushmen access to water.
The Judge ruled that the Bushmen were not entitled to access an existing water borehole on their lands or to drill a new one inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, one of the driest regions in the world. The hearing of the case was held on June 9, but the judge reserved his ruling until today. -more-

President Obama, speaking at the two-day nuclear security conference said it would be a “catastrophe for the world” if a nuclear attack takes place. In the event of a nuclear blast many lives would be lost the day of the attack and days to years later as a result. -more-

FIFTY UGANDAN WOMEN JAILED FOR POLITICAL PROTEST
Jan. 18 (GIN) – Opposition members are calling for the immediate release of 50 women detained this week at a political protest.
The women had been demanding the resignation of the Election Commission Chairman Badru Kiggundu and his fellow commissioners. It was the first time a women’s group was seen mobilizing against the commissioners who oversaw the 2006 election which was marred by widespread irregularities. The women belong to different opposition political parties operating under an umbrella organization - Inter party coalition. -more-
