Call for Nominations: International Humanitarian Award Recognizes Bay Area Residents Who Celebrate Human Spirit at Home and Abroad
Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross to Honor International Humanitarian Hero
WHAT: Do you know a Bay Area resident whose acts of service and celebration of the human spirit merits recognition? The Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking nominations for the International Humanitarian Hero award. This award recognizes individuals that have demonstrated tremendous heroism, courage and service in the international arena. Humanitarian acts do not need to be associated with the American Red Cross but nominees should be residents of the Bay Area.
HOW: The International Humanitarian Hero will be selected by a panel of distinguished judges from the Bay Area. During the Paint the Town Red International Gala, the Humanitarian Hero will be recognized by celebrities and dignitaries and will be presented a cash gift of $2,500.
WHEN: All nominations should be received no later than April 1, 2005. To nominate a special individual you know, please visit www.bayarea-redcross.org or contact Lita Anderson at The Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at 415-427-8170.
The International Humanitarian Hero will be announced during the Paint the Town Red International Gala on April, 21, 2005. In addition to the honoree and guest, the person who nominated the hero will receive two complimentary tickets to this special night of celebration.
WHERE: The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting its major fundraising event of the year, Paint the Town Red International Gala, on April 21, 2005 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. The gala celebrates the unique nature of the Red Cross as an organization that operates around the world, around the nation and around the corner. The "international" flavor of the gala will be accentuated by participation of many members of the San Francisco International Consular Corps. Silent and live auctions will include items from around the world and décor will be reminiscent of an international bazaar.
